Strangely Familiar

I just watched the Vampire Weekend video for "A-Punk" which a little too closely resembled the Mae Shi video for "Run To Your Grave."

Coincidence or crime. You be the judge.

P.S. In case you didn't already know, the Mae Shit are the shit.

the thing about both videos, they're super easy to make. It's actually not stop motion, just adjusted frame rates. The subjects are just acting to the song played at a slower speed so when you play the song at regular speed and match the video back up you get this effect. That's probably obvious but the bright colored shirt thing is just bizarre. What's makes me wonder is if the producers are just inspired by previous works or are they trying to pull a quick one by thinking "no one ever saw this video before, I'll just do what they did." This type of thing can upset me when a band *coughBrandNewcough* tries to make an obscure reference to something that is not all that obscure.
But art in general, it's sad because usually the most original shit will never be seen by the masses. This is why I am a fan of street art. Maybe I'm using the term wrong but I mean is stuff that people with little or no money, express themselves artistically and get what they have out, however they can.
That's just like, my opinion, man.
